The site of Nakazato in Odawara city is one of the biggest ruins in the Middle Yayoi Period in east Japan. More than 100 pit dwellings, pillars and wells were found around the moats. And more than 40 tombs were found in the surroundings.
Moreover, short swords, arrowheads made from rock called ‘Sanukite’ and many distinctive eastern Setouchi and Kinki area potteries were found.
Besides at the river channel, the finding of wooden agricultural tools implies rice paddy cultivation was taken place. It is possible that the rice paddy cultivation in Kanagawa began at Nakazato area and the western immigrants played a major role for the expansion.

The site of Akasaka in Miura city is from Mid to the Late Yayoi Period. From Akasaka, a view of Izu Peninsula and Mt.Fuji can be seen over Sagami gulf in the westward as well as Boso Peninsula over Tokyo bay in the eastward. The site of Akasaka was registered as the National Historical Site in March, 2011.
Akasaka is confirmed as the most biggest ruin (70,000㎡)in Kanto area discovered through excavations. From the Last Middle to the Beginning of Late Yayoi Period, Akasaka expanded when other sites decreased. The flourish of Akasaka dues to the enhancement of cultural exchange with other regions through the sea. The discovery of bronze ware, steel products and gems explains itself.

In 1989, 6 pit dwellings and oval moats were discovered in Kanzaki approximately, 103m south-north, 65m east-west with the exclusive section of 270m.
It was registered as the National Historical Site in February, 2011.
The potteries found in Kanzaki are similar to the ones discovered from Tokai area. Many people were surprised with this discovery.
After the drastic population decline during the Late Yayoi Period in Kanagawa, suddenly a group of people from Tokai area came here to make villages.
According to the recent excavations, 3 pit dwellings were found around the moats in the south. Currently, tombs are not found outside the moats and assumed it extinct within a relatively short Period of time.
